Hello there . The exhaust on my 155 hgt is blowing, so I had a look underneath and to me it looks like its all one piece from back box all the way to the front pipe. Is this right? because if I just need a new back box it looks like I have to get a cat as well? There are no joins that I can see

Thanks bulldog. Just had a look before I read your reply, but I cannot see where it is blowing from, and also when it was cold it sounded fine, so it seams to blow when its hot. Would this indicate a cracked manifold? Thanks

possibly but i'm not an expert, i know on my old marea i though that the manifold gasket has blown but it still leaked after it being replaced so it lead me to belive that the manifold was cracked.

i would suggest getting someone to rev the car up which you look to see if you can see fumes comming up...

there are 4 seperate parts to the exhaust; the manifold, the downpipe (with flexijoint), the cat, and the back box with a long pipe connected to the cat. at the back of the cat you should see a clip, loosen off the 2 13mm nuts on it and you will be able to seperate the cat from the back pipe.

if you take it to almost any garage they'll stick it on a ramp so you can find the leak for free. its always worth asking nicely. :)
