the head gasket was pretty much fine no damage on it anywhere there was some contamination but looks like it came from somehere else but everything was pretty much A-ok no damage anywhere there was a tiny little mark on the gasket but im talking tiny

it seems to be something else dunno what but if we had the gasket to show there was no damage to the piston rings on the gasket to show anything getting near them

well when we were looking it did seam to be timed incorectly maybe the belt slipped and the entire coolant supply was brand new so couldt have been an air lock in the coolant systemcasuing the over heat

Am glad the car is running now another fiat on the road :D

But, i don't think piston rings got anything to do with it tho ? As for the timing being 180degree out, that is acceptable as you could just swap the coil plugs around.

did you guys trying bleeding it first or even timing it correcly again?

Thanks

no he had all the parts and we said we would do all the work so we just got started and changed everything :D

ok, dragged myself out of my sickbed to comment on this thread :D

the car now is running 100% spot on, the timing is bang on perfect and the whole engine is purring, smooth and responsive whereas before it was rough.

temperature wise it is now holding perfect slap bang in the centre of the guage but something funny was going on during bleeding, those who werent there wouldnt believe how long it took to bleed, it was releasing air out both bleed nipples constantly. should be ok but best to keep and eye on it

gasket looked ok tbh, there was a couple of tiny marks on it though so if it had blown it had only just blown in no more

sounds like something else is going on... water pump?

or a air leek its sucking it in somewhere, no way it can just create air.

water pump was working, coolant ws pumping around the system. as for the air, yes thats what we thought too but surely if air could get in that would mean coolant would get out?

yeh depends on where it is. if its in a part that sucks then it can just suck it in. would only blow water when pressure was created. its a odd thing.

either way defo tell him to keep a eye on coolant and temp readings.

yep he was well in informed :D told him to keep and eye out ever day for the next couple of weeks on the temp and coolant levels

i thought that the last garage that checked it topped it up with new coolant as the hole system was spotless when we drained it being pure pink coolant no discoloration so i thought they might have not bled it properly and could have cause an air lock
