Alright, name's Rob and located the site through the Fiat Forums. Figured I may as well join since I hail from just a few miles out of Glasgow

Midway through my finance on my Stilo and thought I may as well start mucking around with it. So far, I've only debadged the rear and front wings as well as fitting the usual Richbrook and Ripspeed parts to it. Planning on sorting out some mechanical stuff and a few subtle styling bits, though don't PLAN on going overboard with the mods. That said, a few months ago, I just fancied keeping it standard

Anyway, shall hopefully contribute to the forum and pick up some good Fiat tips along the way :smt023

Shall probably take a pic or 2 of the car tomorrow. Spent 3 hours washing it today (first time since September), but ended up having a problem with the middle seat belt pretensioner, which I'll have a go at fixing tomorrow. That or the horror of the Fiat Dealership awaits. I'll stick a pic up of it the day after I got it. It was in the dark, but you can still see it. I'll also pop up a pretty poor photoshop I did of it to give an idea of a money no object modded version (both of which are larger versions of the one's in my sig).

Shall see if I can get the 25th off and bring my near standard (4x4 suspension and all) car along with me. May at least not have "Reg Vardy" plates on it by then :lol:

Cheers. Yeah, been considering an induction kit on the Stilo fairly soon. Looked at Pipercross or K&N, though I do hear good things about the GSR kit. Noticed it's a lot more expensive than the other two, but I'm guessing it's a much better kit.

Hadn't actually considered a remap, but could be something I'll pop on the to-do list after I get a back box and the some other bits.

Personally I'd avoid the two induction kits you mention - the K&N kit is made of something akin to putty with the same life span in a car The pipercross kit seems to be made of something worse :shock: However, it's horses for courses - I dont believe either kit was designed with longevity in mind. The GSR kit is top quality, I am biased as I have one but if you were looking at something else a BMC kit would be the next best choice to a GSR

The remap is well worth having, takes 1.2 to something a smidgen more interesting

Yeah, saw the BMC kit on the Angel Tuning site. Still looking at the all the various options the now, but looking interesting and expensive

Remap does sound like a good option. My current standard back box is starting to look a bit second hand, so when it comes to replacing it, shall definitely go for something more interesting. After that and the induction kit, shall maybe visit Angel Tuning for a remap.

Cheers, just the base 1.2 16v. Nice enough engine, sounds good when you rev the nuts off it (not that I actually do that very often), but need more power in a car as large as the Stilo.

Really noticed the difference between the 16v in this and the 8v in my old Mk2 Punto though. The extra 20hp and the free revving nature of a 16v's really noticeable even if it is stifled a little by the Stilo's size. Still, an induction kit, decent exhaust and a remap will all make it a bit more nippy, and sound better of course

Has it got the 6 speed gearbox? excellent gearbox might i add.

i am sure with a GSR and a full supersprint + remap you will easily see the darkside of 100bhp.

Yeah, think the Stilo's just over the tonne mark as opposed to the Punto weighing around 300kg less. Still, it feels marginally quicker than the Punto did and it does indeed have a 6-speed gearbox. Think that's for economy rather than speed though. At 70mph, it's sitting around 3000rpm, so get great mileage out the fuel tank, which is a good thing at the moment. It's meant to only be able to do around 106mph, but I reckon it'd easily top 110. Not that I'd try that on the Queen's highway of course

100hp would be good. Obviously, it still wouldn't be lightning fast, but would certainly improve driveability. Overtaking and hills are always seemingly a bit of a problem at the moment :?
