I think owning a UT is the same as owning a Ritmo Abarth when it comes to money and time spent...

hey guys!

Thanks for all ya advice, when i have saves some money i think i shall definitly do summit to this car, coz its all i can afford atm, im doing 40+mpg and im 17 n payin £700 insurance on a rents policy (y)

When its raining the "thingy" belt slips so makes that horrible noise, what is it n bout how much will it cost to get sorted?

cheers again

On FIRE engines, the fan belt drives the alternator, nothing else. The water pump is driven by the cambelt. If it squeals when its raining, its due to the water acting as a lubricant on the belt. Tightening it should sort it, but you may as well fit a new belt, they cost about three quid :)

Ah!

Yes, good idea - might even leave you stranded with flat battery too.
That only happens when the Belt falls off or snaps.

Mine was squealing in the rain so eventually I tightened it up  . I bought a new belt and carry it as spare. I'm waiting for the old belt to start playing up again before I replace it. Been carrying the belt for about a year now and old one is still OK. BTW when the engine will run OK without the belt - till the battery looses all its charge. When the belt falls off - the battery warning light stays lit with engine running (if I recall).

Then again - you could always replace the belt and keep the old one as a spare ;)

Regards All,

yer i read me manual and it said i would had to take me wheel off to get round to tighten it, coz me and my dad attempted it but found it quite akward.

Out of interest how fast have you people managed to drive yours Uno's?!coz they are real speed machines (y) :D

I've done M1 Junction 25 (Nottingham) to Junction 4 (A41, N.W. London) in 1 hour 20 mins once.

Top speed is an odd one 'cos it really matters on the gradient and little things like tyre pressure. I've managed 110mph going down hill, it was still going, but had to brake 'cos of the Middle-Lane-Hoggers-Club. Up a hill it struggles at 80. On a flat, probably about 90?

These are all GPS speeds. Speedo seems to get stuck sometimes randomly throughout its scale.

what tire pressure should my uno be, coz i think when i read handbook it was 1.9 lets say, so i altered my pressures but the front i swear needs more coz it heavier, what shall i do, add more to front?

Pressure

How much was it reduced by – if it was a lot check the Tyres for un even ware.

If vastly over inflated only the centre contacts with the road so only that part wares down – and the steering is light.

(I guess) on the negative side you have less grip which will increase your stopping distance.

I cant remeber how much they were but i altered them all slightly there were no huge differences, i think most were 1.8, what i wondered though was if the front pressures should be increased over the 1.9 because of the extra weight of the engine n stuff. the tired all look good n passed MoT no probs.
