unfortunatly, if the image is small then that means it is low resolution. increasing the size increases the sizes of the pixels, but not doesnt increase the resolution. it doesnt work like it does in the movies :(

i'm not sure of any 'easy' ways to do it, only enlarging it then and then using the brush tool to smooth all the detail etc. you'd be effectivly drawing the image.

but then i also don't know half as much about photoshop as bushboy.. so it might be best to ignore what i've said until he comes along!!

After Resizing you can use a Filter and add BLUR or Sharpen.

Just experiment with different types of blurs and Sharpens until you find something which is acceptable for you.

Remember, Multiple filters will give you different, sometimes, better results.

This is as good as I could get it, I ran it through loads of filters to reduce as much of the pixelation as possible with the programs I have got, it's not as big as you want it though and probably nowhere near as clear as you'd like. Click the image for a bigger picture.

wish mine was orange I am sorry to say but you just ismply wont get a library card photo to 6x4 and have any kind of quality. Do the library store the photos? theres would be higher resolution

thanks that's much better than what i had it a pic off a library card only one i got and i am trying to get it to 6x4.
what program did you use ?
No problem

The programs I used were Photoshop (couldn't do much with this today), Paintshop Pro ( no better than Photoshop ) , Coral Draw (very good Art program I use for work ) and a Texture making program I use for work written by one of my colleagues.

Sadly only a very slight improvement was gained, if at all really but it was worth a shot.

Mark.

ok dumb question did you put this image though all 3 then to get it this good or was it a case of finding the best program out of your list of three?:worship:

Maybe the FBI could help there, they always do an amazing job in the movies when they get a perfectly clear face out of a bunch of pixels, if that was available to all of us we wouldn't need anything more than a 100 pixel camera.

With a fairly good picture in the first place you could actually increase the pixel count (resolution) to give a much sharper quality picture, take these two shots here which I set up for you.

I deliberately made a small image from one of my good ones and set it to save at a standard image quality in my Olympus software which degraded the original quite a bit ( don't worry I saved the original beforehand )
I then re-sized it to 800x800.
I then took that very same degraded image and converted it to an Exifjpeg which allowed me to alter the images pixel count. I then re-sized that same image to 1600x1600 Double the size of the standard image, and instructed it to convert to 300 pixels per cm, and a high quality file.

If you take those pictures and zoom them right in you will see the large one has gained a lot of it's detail that was lost and I'd say it was two or three times clearer than the small one when zoomed, look at the detail on the leaves with the stripes. The downside is a very large file size but worth it in some circumstances.

I also had another go at your picture and this time managed to get it up to 1200x800, it's pixelated but much less than it would be if you were to just re size the picture normally. Let me know if that one's OK.

Mark.

No, not Photoshop, I used Olympus Master 2 software for that one, I can't remember if Photoshop has the ability to do that or not, if it does then I'll get back to you on that one but I'm thinking it doesn't allow files to be saved in the Exifjpeg format which is required for that process, maybe some other format does allow it, I'll look into it.
