Hi all,
I am having a struggle fitting a turbo to a Mk1 uno manifold to go on an 85s 1500 in one of my x1/9's.I got hold of a ball bearing RHF5 from an isuzu which was supposed to fit but alas the mounting flange while similar is smaller than the manifold.Anyone have any ideas on what i can swap to have it fit?
Regards,
Doug

Yes, some of us have been laughing at that Ebay auction (it comes up in a search on the UK Ebay) - it may be brand new but £600 (GBP) for a manifold? That guy is seriously taking the mick. Also at that price it would be much more cost effective for you to find a mk2 manifold in Europe and have it shipped over to Oz. Try placing a wanted advert on here - https://www.fiatforum.com/classifieds, otherwise you'll need to check places like Ebay (Europe/ South America/ South Africa where the UT was available) and specialists websites like www.turbocollective.net

You mention that you are fitting a turbo to a 1500 engine - have you lowered the compression on the 1500? Bear in mind that the turbo version of the 1301cc engine runs a considerably lower compression ratio than the normally aspirated version to cope with the turbo charger installation. If the compression ratio is too high there is a serious risk of detonation with subsequent damage to the pistons and the engine.

If you have found a way of lowering the compression ratio of the 1500 engine then please let the forum know as a number of turbo owners would be interested in increasing the capacity of their engines (y)

Good luck with your project and let us know how you get on.

Hi,
Thanks for the welcome. It has a copper head gasket and relieved chambers so its now down around 8 to 1 cr.This isnt a big dollar motor,my other x is getting a warm twink, this one is just a runaround. The 1500 was already fitted,I picked up the uno manifold cheap and I have a spare Lumenition ecu lying around so bacically using up some spare bits n pieces. Will however need to source an efi inlet manifold for it.
