Oh dear Oh dear!!!

I'm guessing this aint a good thing.
If anyone can tell me what might be wrong or if I've broken my car, or if its my fault, I'd be grateful.

stupidly hadn't checked my water level for a while and found the other day that my temperature gauge was holding steadily at about 3/4's. this was a shock anyway considering it hasn't been working for about 8 months. thats a different story.

also my heating wasn't working.
I checked the water and ended up refilling it with a bottle and a half of water to the max level again.

This sorted out the temperature gauge which is now back to normal. The heating started working again to an extent, however, today when driving into work there seemed to be smoke or steam coming out of the vents ever so slightly.

Also my bloody airbag malfunction light has just clicked on too.

And they say things happen in 3's.

Any advice would be welcome.
Oh by the way its a bravo hgt 2.0 20v.

heater

It's steam, you can bet your thermostat has had it, find out where the water went cos you should never have to put that much water in, if any. Might have an airlock in as well. Check exhaust to see if you are blowing steam out. if so, minimum is a blown gasket

Re: heater

thanks.
if the thermos gone, is that expensive?

airbag light

Might have to get it reset, cost about £20

Thermostat

Not an expensive item and easy to do yourself. be a bit worried where all the water went!

It sounds to me like your heater matrix has gone, which might also be causing an airlock. The steam from the vents must be the water leaking from the heater matrix inside your car and misting your windscreen up.
I had the same thing on my peugeot 306. And the airbag light might be coming on because one of the connections has water in it from the leak.
Hope this helps

matrix

could be the matrix as Ash says, try some radweld, can make a good repair. Worth a try

Defo heater matrix, had the steam out of the heaters on mine which was a good sign, but the passenger footwell full of water was a give away, the airbag unit i under the matrix, so if you've got an airbag light on could be water has dropped onto the unit
