Stilo help needed

hi evryone im new to this so plz bear with me lol sorry for my spelling
i av got a fiat stilo 1.6 16v but the car will start up and then cut out as tho iv turnd it of and says on the dash asr fail lose conection / altanater fault / and sometims says something about coolent to high ive tryd evrything ad it on a computer and its ad new map sencer also tryd giving it a full servise but still happens if enyone could give us a few clues it would be great we love the car but it feels like im bangin my head on a brick wall with it thanks dave

Hello and welcome..
Have you tested car battery is in good condition and charging from alternator, along with the terminals and fuses at battery are not loose also worth checking earth points are clean and not rusted up....as you have many faults which can be down to weak battery and has been known to cause issues.

hi thanks yes iv ad the battery and altanater cheack as the chap that did it said that the altanater wass giveing to much charge out it wass at 14.2 and he said that it should be at 13.1 /13.2 i realy dont no mutch about cars but could that be the problume ? thanks dave

Have you a multimeter to check voltage with engine running as I would be more happy with a reading of 14.2 than 13.2 as with car running there would be little in reserve from alternator to charge battery. when you start getting to the 15v is high and problem, if you could try raising revs a little also and see what volts are at the battery terminals..oops guess if car keeps cutting out not possible
Another thing to give a clean and check is the D4 connector hidden under back of battery area there is something in the guide section on that I think.

hi the car was running when it read 14.2 i will av a look D4 connector in the morning thanks for the halp pal someone also told me to try spry wd40 on the brack pedle were the wires are dont no if i should do that tho lol i will post on her in morning when iv cheakd it

Be good if you could read fault codes.some codes would be from engine stalling as could be number of things from electrical to fuel delivery. Have heard of brake switch making car idle but not cut out there is guide on resetting brake switch.but reading fault codes would be help

hi iv ad it on the comp and thay said it needs a new temp sencer as its faulty and the car thinks its over heating so ad one put on and still the same
