Disaster!!!
Just picked up Multi.
Drove home with ease down the M23 but as I arrived home in Brighton
red light and beeping with engine managment/ contact garage came onto dashboard.
Now I've just gone to re-check message and it's gone!!
Any ideas or help people?!?!

Just spoke to the previous owner and he said it happened to him a few months ago and he cleaned the mass air flow (is that right) and it went.
Make any sense?

Steve

Mine used to throw up an engine management light once in a blue moon, especially when it was wet. Literally on and off or on til I stopped and then not come on again. Keep an eye on it returning. Fiat electrics.......:)

The message has come back and reads "engine cntl faulty"
The manual says that this relates to injection system failure!!
Oh dear 2 days into Multipla ownership and this happens..

Is it an expensive to replace the injectors or could it be another fault??

Steve

Is it a JTD ?? MAF meter doesnt bring up any warning messages, you just find it'll run out of steam before 3000 revs. The warning light on a jtd usually means a duff injector,I had 3 go....if so you might get misfiring /rough running with the warning bleep.....and sorry to say mate I'ts not cheap. Dealer is the best option.
Hope I'm wrong and it turns out to be something silly otherwise not a good start to your ownership....best of luck!!

This will probably have thrown up a fault code which can be read by the appropriate machine. Give your Fiat dealer a ring, explain the problem and ask if putting it on their machine will answer your query.

Money, I know but I have had Fiat read a code for me before (at a cost, obviously) and then have my local garage do the work.

Unless anyone has a better idea or had this happe to them.

Have you tried earching the forum with 'engine control light' ?

Thank oyu both for your reply, jeez I hope this isn't the shape of things to come! I'll get the meter read tomorrow and post a reply, btw when you say not cheap what's a ball park figure for a nw injector, and no sucking air across your teeth ;0)

No longer have the car and all the bills went with her and inluded other repairs, but if I recall,it was 50 quid for the diagnostic, new injector was about a ton..plus probably an hours labour...if you do need an injector your in for a couple of hundred-ish.

Ow! Oh well a double ton could be lived with! It's a bummer as the bus is lovely and aside from that infernal beeping drives a treat!

Thanks for the help and I'll post a reply in a few days

Steve
