Hi everyone,

I have a grande punto 1.2 active on an 06 plate and i'm trying to upgrade from the standard headunit to a better one as i need my ipod connected! The stereo that i have is a Fli dvd 9, i have the fascia adaptor, and i also have a wiring harness adaptor that is a PC2-86-4. The problem that i'm having is that i cant get any power to the headunit, and the wiring adaptor doesn't seem to line up correctly,it has a red 12v cable coming off it which needs to be connected up somewhere, but again im not sure. I've never had a fiat before so this is new to me, and i think im going to go mad.

Any help would be appreciated as i'm currently at a dead end! Another thing is that i dont really want to chop the Fiat's wires as i want to drop the standard headunit back in when i come to sell it, or am I asking a bit much there? Like i say, any help! Thanks.

the problem with grande punto's is they do not come with an ignition wire. This means that although your headunit will be getting power its not going to know when to power on and off. Therefore, it will remain permantently off.

what you have to do is look in the manual and locate the 12v and the ignition wires.

normally
Red = 12v
Green/Yellow = ignition (check this as this is the colour code that will change randomly per unit.)

All you do is cut both the ignition and the 12v and then join the ignition to the 12v.

This will leave ur HU permanently powered so remember to turn it off to save ur battery!

Ok cheers for the advice, i think il go down the ignition feed to the stereo route because if i dont im sure il be jumpstarting it every morning!

Well yeah there is that...although...if you tend to leave your HU in all the time its likely to get robbed anyway so could be a good way to remind you to take it out!!!

If you can wire the ignition feed then go for it though...well worth it for sure :)

Hello everyone! I just bought a 07 plate sporting 1.4 16v in orange and I'm having mad trouble trying to fit my HU in it!!!

I bought a kenwood motorised head unit to fit in it and I want to try and fit it via the ignition feed but I dont have a clue how????

Please could someone give me some instructions and (maybe some pictures) on how to do it? you would really be helping out because I can't live with a standard audio system lol

PLEASE HELP!!!!

Thanks

i bought a 08 plate dynamic and after failing to install a jvc H/U i went to a fiat garage and got told that it was a cambus connection so not to do it myself and was told they would do it for £50. one thing i did notice after reinstalling the old headunit was all of the radio stations were still saved??

You believed fiat?! Just because its canbus it doesnt mean it cant be changed. All you need is your ISO adapter then if you want to keep steering wheel controls you just need a harness adapter that fits your headunit if its compatible with steering wheel controls.

If you mean changing the red and yellow wires over then look through the other headunit threads on here as i have put a pic up a good few times and im too lazy to do it again.

Youve got two options. Either chop the red and yellow wires in half, get some bullet connectors and put the red to the yellow and the yellow to the red. That will save your radio stations.

If you dont want to chop wires then in the iso connector, push a screwdriver into where the yellow and red cables go into, and then push towards the wire, the wire then will pop out and to get them back into the one you want, use ur screwdriver to pull the catch outslightly and pop back in.

Takes 5 mins tops :D (y)

i just went and tried the yellow and red wire thing, from the head unit i put the red wire along with the red wire to the red wire in the car, the head unit would work but i want it work with the ignition how do you actually do this????
