You need to yank the handbrake as high as you can..

Does the console have the switches for eleccy wing mirros and do you have electric ones.. if you havent would you be willing to do a swap of the switches as i dont have the switches on mine but have electric wing mirrors :(

Dont have electric ones the mo but was thinking of maybe adding them. If i dont i'll give you a shout first for a swap.

Doesn't help with why i'm having trouble removing the console from the marea in the first place though.

Undo the nut under the handbrake to be able to lift it up as high as you can.

Also it maybe wise for you to remove one of the front seats as it makes it ALOT easier. Only four screws.

Remove the screws in the oddments tray near the handbrake, in the armrest, remove the screws under the rear vent, near the rear footwells on the console and the forward footwells.

Also instead of using the guide which involves making a silly bracket, remove the bracket from the marea and take the clips aswell. If you want the vents to work at the rear take all the heating pipework underneath.

You will need to modify the heating vents as its not a straight forward swap.

I think thats all the info you need.

all that needs to be done is pull the hand break lever back as far as possible. sit in the back seat like i did and just keep going :)

Got it out today, thanks for the advice, pulling the handbrake back as far as possible worked great, wont do that when i fit it in mine though, will take one of the seats out.

Was well surprised at the maount of small parts that make up the marea console compared to the brava's. Was removing all the piping for the rear face vent and might try to fit it as well, removed one extra bit from under the ashtray but theres another somewhere behind the centre vents i couldn't get to, i'll try it when changing my broken centre vents. The ducting for the rear feet vents was weird too. Will be fun when fitting it along with all the brackets etc. :)
