Hello to all,
I am another newbie that has recently purchased a Punto for my wife, but the was no manual that came with the car. At the moment we have a problem with a seized starter motor, so any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Hi and welcome to Fiat Forum. We have a selection of handbooks for various Fiat models in their relevant sections and I have posted the link to the various Punto publications on our database below.

Pick which one you are interested in and click on it to download. I would suggest you choose the "Save" option and put it on your desktop for future reference.

With regards to the starter motor problem, when you say seized do you mean "jammed?" If this is the case you might be able to free it off by selecting reverse gear and rocking the car (handbrake and ignition off). If it is actually seized then you would need to remove it for inspection. It might just require the bendix to be cleaned.

Have you checked out the Punto section yet?

Thankyou grimwau for your very prompt response!
I shall go immediately and have a look. Just one thing though, on the Grande Punto, where exactly is the starter motor mounted? It's just I am off work at the mo with a very painful bad back and as such I'm not able to get the car up on jacks and climb underneath. If the starter is located behind the top half of the engine block, then I may be able to get it removed.
Your help is very much appreciated!

You're welcome, however as the original post just mentioned Punto the links I gave you were incorrect so the correct ones for a Grande Punto are listed below.

I'm not sure of the starter motor location not having owned that model but if you ask the question in the GP section hopefully you will get a quick response and if you are lucky you might even get a photo.
