:) Hello, am new to the site so be gentle with me please.

Been an owner of a MK 1 automatic (5 door)which has now died on me (actually this happened at the garage where I was trying to get it through its MOT).

Have just bought a new (nearly new) GP so am looking forward to getting to know that.

Problem is my 'stuck-at-the-garage' MK1. :(

Unfortunately I had some work done - we were both fairly confident it would pass MOT but was stuck on emmissions. Had new cat and lamda sensor fitted and some welding done so I owe them some money.

They took it for a drive to get temperature up and something fairly major went, probably the clutch. had to be towed back, so now is stuck there. Starts in neutral but can't get into drive.

Is now uneconomic to fix, is M reg, nearly 130 K. Need to dispose of it, garage is being helpful so not a problem there at the moment.

Although old and high mileage, the car is in v good condition, v clean interior and before the clutch problem, was running well. It has been garaged most of its life and I have done very regular (x 2 recommended) oil changes.

It has manual sun roof, good doors and seats, brand new cat, recently new alternator, good rear tyres etc. It would be great if someone had a need for it and its parts so I could recoup a little of my loss to pay the garage.

(Forum moderators - I realise i probably need to put an add or this thread into a 'for sale' section).

Any helpful suggestions appreciated.

Many thanks in advance (y)

sell it on ebay.

it cant need a clutch, it doesnt have a clutch.

it will probably need a transmisson, although the torque converter may be the only part that requires replacement. someone will want it to fix up if it is otherwise a good car.

how much is it worth? very difficult to say, probably £50 considering no MOT and the transmission fault.
