Got my theory test tomorrow so thought i would get involved in signing up to here Im thinking of getting a Punto 1.2 as my first car, Would people say this is a good idea and cheap for insurance.

Depends what reg the Punto is? If you want a newish, say, 08 plate Punto, insurance is around £1200 on a rainy day, but normally less due to it's safety ratings. The older ones.. I'm not so sure. But it shouldn't be too bad.


I drive a Classic Panda so I can't really tell you any relative experience of driving Punto's, but I'm sure someone on the forum will do their best to sell it :devil:

Probably the older the better to be honest, Possibly looking at spending 1.2k max on the car.

You could fetch an old style Punto for a lot less than £1200, I've seen one nearly where I live go for around £200, so I think you'll be fine


As for insurance, because you're 18 and in theory, just passed your test, insurance providers are going to rip you senseless for your money, so be prepared to fork out a high premium

as an idea im approching 19.. so as a 19 year old with 2 additional drivers and pass plus. i was quoted £1880 by admiral... for a 1.2 Y reg 5 door punto
