Hi guys, over the past couple of days iv noticed that the temperature from the heating seems to have gone a bit weird. when im not moving it goes freezing even if i've been driving quite a while but when i move its fine. nice and warm. any ideas?

Also the car seems to be juddering a lot. since i filled up with super unleaded a while ago it hasnt stopped. and iv had 3 normal tanks of unleaded. it seems like a sudden loss of power then it all shoots back after 3000rpm hav i buggered up the injectors or something

Cheers Guys

Not sure if you have described the heater sysmtoms back to front. If you don't it very seem very strange.

I was recently suffering from heater and water temp problems. It was the thermostat.

When I was stationary the heater was hot and water temp normal, but when I started to move, say above 30mph, the heater would go cold and water temp would drop.

This would seem indicative of a thermostat which has locked open. But when I took it out it was in the cold/shut position. The thermostat was actually opening to quickly.

You could try changing it. They are simple to change and are not to expensive. Look at the price on shop4parts.co.uk.

Other than that, ask Ben. He really helped me out.

No i've definatly got it right. does it have something to do with the large running of water i hear everytime i start the car i'm sure something is blocked but not 100% sure what it is? any info would help so i can have a look at it 2moro

Could be Blocked or may have air in the system. Please note, I'm not a mechanic but have experienced a simliar problem.

Take a hose off, and flush with a hose pipe. This willl cost notheing. Also try to flush the heater matix. On my 1.6 there is a hose at the back of the engine that goes into the heater.

Oh yes, don't forget the refill with antifreze.

It could be that the ducting from your heater fan has come adrift and is not blowing hot air through to the outlets.

When you are moving forward, you will have a ram air effect pushing the heat through your heater matrix and out of the air circulation system. Try setting your air flow to interior circulation and see what happens. If I'm right, you should not get any ram air effect and the hot air flow should go cold.

Hope that helps, but more important, I hope it makes sense!
