They'd struggle to accuse me of anything as the only time I ever have the iPad mounted when driving is when the SatNav App is running. That can't be a distraction otherwise TomTom would be out of business
It works quite well to be fair. It sits low enough on the dash that it doesn't obscure my vision at all (the same can't be said for a sucker mounted sat nav) but is high enough that I don't need to look directly at it to see the directions. That is the beauty of the big screen. I've never had anything else running on it whilst driving. Despite being asked by passengers to 'put a movie on' as it would distract me.
And yeah you are right, the standard system is more than enough for most of us
