The dipped beam bulbs on my 03 2.8JTD X244 both failed during a recent long trip over poor roadsurface in Scandinavia. Daytime dipped headlights are compulsory there and I had to replace the bulbs as the elements had shattered. Luckily I had done this before and knew how to do it without head scratching in about 15 mins. per side.
Whilst there is a rotary switch in the dashboard, graded 0-3 I think to level the lamps to accommodate to different loads in the van, I cannot see any mechanism by which this could be achieved. Twirling the switch has no effect in moving the beams up or down.
Any ideas?

There should be a motorised actuator in the lamps, if you don't have them but do have the self levelling control theres a good chance its had new lamps.
