Hello All

My right HD low beam stopped working, but when you engage high beam it works. i have swapped the bulbs and it is still doing the same thing. i have checked all the wiring and all is good.

by the way, i chacked all my fuses they seem fine as i changed them about 5-6 months ago.
Should i replace fuses for head lights, another thing also is that it did this a week ago and after two days both my head lights low beam worked perfectly.

Like they fixed themselves, but i know something is wrong..

Please help.

Checked the spade connections behind the big rubbery thing on the back of the light?

Get those fuses out and replace them. Perhaps the replacements you fitted six months ago were poor quality and the connections are now burned?

The headlight switch puts out a single wire for dipped-beam; the split to left and right occurs at the fusebox. Therefore, the fault must be there or further downstream, like the connector that Ucof suggests.

I should realy take the time and replace all the connectors some day, the spades are fine but the female sockets of the SA produced uno's tarnish terribly.

Interesting! Thanks for the information, the connectors may well be a different grade, as wiring looms are the sort of component to be made in different places.

I had a run on bad fuses a few years ago - I replaced all the fuses in my '88 X1/9 (which took the same type of fuse as the Uno) and then had recurring poor connections due to the worse quality of the replacement fuse terminal plating, probably aggravated by a dampness under the dash (windscreen leak).

Guess it's just a case of working methodically through the circuit but the headlight plug sounds like the best place to start.

thanx guys for all the replies.

this issue happened 4 months ago and it melted the connector that plugs to the head light bulb. we replcaed it and the electrician that i took the car to did some wiring and all worked fine.
but now the connector at the back has not melted at all, so should i just replace all the fuses.
i am soo confused now

Just try cleaning the female connectors a bit, I use a small hobby file with a sharp point to just break the grey tarnish. No point in replaceing a fuse that isn't blown, I think both headlights are on the same fuse.

Or use a small strip of sandpaper, or, as I think I used, a small flathead screwdriver. :D

Found the problem guys, one of the fuses was faulty in the inside. replaced it and all is working.
Thanks guys for your assistance.
