i'm still thinking of replacing the broken CAT with a straight thro' pipe. any guesses if it's likely to produce emmissions that are too high for the MOT? its a 97R HGT with 40K and Mobile1 every 4k?
someone one here must use a straight through cat replacement. they'll probably still have the cat for their mot tests.
its a case of you asking nicely if you can borrow one
if you get a decat and can get them to do the emissions test as though it was a pre 1988 or whenever it was when you didnt need a cat it should pass thouhg? just need some friendly garages. . ?
yup 40 rips an you should have no probs with the remus, you may have to pay a little extra seen as i bought cat-back at same time but i wouldnt have thought any more than 50, got it from a place called stafford tyred [highly recommend them] great job, friendly blokes...... got the number if anyone wants it.
LOL!!! You'd be lucky! Doing that opens the garage up to serious crap from the DVLA and not many garages are willing to risk their MOT certificate for that.
whats the worst the garage can say? hmmm 'no'!!!
my mate got his 93 mini motd with no cat an they just put the test machine through a 98 megane that was in the garage!!! no probs ;o]
although note! i do not advise or condone such behaviour as it makes the car non-street legal and makes your insurance become invalid no matter what the circumstances!
i only use my de- cat pipe off road!
I remember about 4 years ago when I had a motorbike, I got a producer from the cops for having a smaller number plate. So I wasnt worried until I got home and found my MOT certificare had expired by one frigging day !!!!!
I went to 9 gareages trying to find one that would MOT my bike, and backdate the form by one day, and this was first thing in the morning. I never did find one, but managed to blag my way at the police station with just a new MOT, he didnt check the start date
Just goes to show, some garages might bend, some wont.and I have never found one that will
