Hi everyone, im Chambl01 - New here and in desperate need of some advice. I have a stunning red, W registration 5 door petrol, Mk 2 Fiat Punto HLX 1.2. I have had this car for about 5 years and it only has just under a mere 59,700 genuine miles from new. What i would like to know is how i would find out if this little beauty had its alloy wheels manufacture fitted. .....how can i find this out. I have recently changed insurance company to General Alliance. I told them i wasn't sure if the alloy wheels were from new or not as i had the car in its later life. However despite this iv'e since been advised i need to declare if these are original from manufacture. If not my insurance is Void and i cannot make a claim on my insurance if i needed too. This has really stressed me out. I don't know what to do? I have rang the main dealer but was told as the car is so old those type of records are no-longer available. It was suggested that as it was the HLX model and the alloys have their Fiat badged logo in the wheel centre then it was likely they were. But what if they're not? My confidence on this is on the floor. The car has extras in it but how can i be sure this is true. I would be gutted if anything happened to the car and im essentially paying money to insure her for nothing with them. Has anyone got any ideas please, I would really value anyones advice. Many thanks in advance.

Some insurance companies will not cover wheels that were never intended for that car. Boy racers have been known to fit crazy wheels with incorrect offsets, no adaptor rings all in the name of fashion. Fiat generally offered all sorts of alloys as options on new cars. More than likely if your wheels carry the Fiat logo they are original and will be ok. The only issue may be if someone fitted a size that was not appropriate for that car.
First off check the tyre pressure sticker for the different size tyres and see if one of them matches the tyre size on your car. Second try find an owners manual on line, probably need your reg or VIN number to get the right one and see if the manual lists that tyre or wheel size.
If they are Fiat alloys of the right size with the right tyre you are good.

Welcome to the forum by the way :)
If you can post a picture of the wheels it would help the experts here no end.

If the wheels look like this

Then yes your hlx would have had these wheels from new as the HLX was the top of the rage model at the time, so had those wheels as standard.

Hi Andy, many thanks too for the advice....brilliant. i can de-stress now.
