Hey thanks Stephen, yh my ones feels great too was just wondering did it take u a while 2 get use to the extra sixth gear? :)

I kept forgetting about 6th gear, was so annoying. Its a great luxury though.

yh i kno what you mean pomp, i that extra gear must be there for added proformance (y)

Not really.. I don't think the 6th gears are much lower ratio than the 5th gears on other cars. However you can get more ecconomy and performance from being in a better gear on the way to 6th.

Try switching 5th to 6th at motorway speeds with the instant fuel consumption reading on the dashboard and you'll see.

I could be wrong though since I have only 5 speeds in my bravo an talk from experience on a Grande Punto Sport 140bhp Multijet.

You are both right. Yes better economy happens when you go up the gears to 6th properly, but once there... It maximises your MPG. (As long as you dont put your foot on the throttle too much)

I never forget about 6th!! in all my other cars i was always looking for a 6th gear!! the ammount of times i crunched the gears in other cars because they didnt have 6!!

Thanks for the info guys, im getting use to the gears now (y). I was told by my local dealer, that these cars are designed to be reved a bit more to get more pick out of them, and that it wont harm do you think this is a tru statment? soz for all the questions, still pretty new to fiats:)

Petrol engines with low torque always require revving if you want some performance.

The smaller Fiat engines have always been revvy. Not talking honda vtec type revvy but just the same grunt right upto the high revs. As for it not harming the engine, making sure you use the whole rev range as the engine beds in is critical to its health later in life. We had an ex hire tipo from Jersey. Superb low mileage but was always a bit funny because it hadn't been ran in at the higher speeds properly.

Do you mean the engine bedding in from new because my bravo has 18000 miles on it?
