It does feel like a limo compared to the smart, but we did like the smart it was fun to drive, I will post more after i take it out on wednesday evening
One question can anyone help, we ordered ESP but I can't see an ESP button anywhere in the car, there is a button that says ASR on it, how do we tell it's definitely on the car, or is it the ASR? I ask because i have a golf with it and my ESP button is there to see! That car from any angle is just so cute to look at
Hi Armitage! Well done you took delivery...I'm STILL waiting (ordered 24th Jan or there abouts!)
Don't worry about that button, you can't actually disable the ESP, but you can toggle the ASR hence the ASR button under your climate control.
If you wanna test to see if it works the safest thing to do is a hill launch! Not like the member above suggested going round a corner fast!!!! tut tut
Hill launch is when you are a stationary on a slope facing uphill and you take your foot off the brake so that you can get into 1st gear. Now usually on manuals you would roll backwards (which is why we are all taught handbrake-hill-starts as learners) but the little 500 will hold you there for 2 seconds while you get into gear so you don't need the handbrake!!!....it's an absolute joy!
If your ESP has indeed been fitted then hill launch is a welcome side effect of that. If it HASN'T been fitted, well then you'll roll backwards immediately...
Anyway, enjoy and post some pics already!!!
Hello. Hope the new arrival is settling in well..
How is Mrs A getting on with a 'clutch'? I have had two Smarts and loved the sequential box.. so easy to drive. However, I do like the location of the gearstick in the 500, got on with it straight away. The driving position is similar to the Smart - sitting quite high above the road. What I notice in the 500 is lack of engine noise (have the 1.2) it is SO quiet.. whereas in the Smart you had the engine in the car with you. I have to give it a little 'blip' to check it's still ticking over!!
Enjoy your drive tonight and keep us posted .. with some photos too!
Hi Baerius and minifunclub thanks for your kind words the little one is settling in well i am driving it tonight to play football and i can't wait to drive it, Linda is fine with the gears as she drove it by herself on tuesday and loved it, she had a hill hold on the smart but she can't get her head round this one as it involves using the clutch whereas in the smart no clutch needed but i will try it tonight. After she had been it in tuesday i asked her what her thoughts were and she said the whole car feels like cream! meaning it all feels smooth and lovely it did make me laugh, i will try out the headlights tonight as it will be dark on the way home i am sure they will be fine as the smart ones weren't great on counrty roads i will report back on it. I am going to wash polish and wax it for her this weekend so we will post pics then, that's if we can work out how to post them Baerius thanks for the info on the ESP it's only because i have a golf with it and i can see the esp button in mine.

I was not serious regarding going round a corner quickly!!I would not recommend that too anyone for the record. You will probably never know you have ESP until it saves your life or your cars at the least!
