got my fiat punto mk2 3dr a month ago
2 weeks ago the exhaust fell off - repaired under warranty
last night f@cking thieving scum gained entry.[
!] and i hadnt got round to getting an alarm installed cus of the price of the car, insurance and a holiday id had this month so that was on the agenda for next month.
was parked on neighbours drive cus he was away and they pierced the lock 3 times around it on the passengers door bending in the metal and then forced the lock with something like a screwdriver.
central locking still works on both doors when i turn the drivers door but i cant put the key into the passenger lock .
to make things worse they didnt actually steal anything, they tried to get my handsfree and pulled a load of wires out but left them hanging, the pulled the power cable and receiver for my sat nav off the dash and left them on the passenger seat.
opened the glove box and pulled all my cds out and left on the passenger seat, tried to get stereo off but gave up ( id bolted onto the under frame of the dash and i dont leave the face panel in the car. so at the end of it im left with a mess which ive now cleared up and facing a bill for new lock. The cylinder is gone and although i can replace that and then get it recoded to my key, im still left with the holes in the door and the risk of some one doing it again.
what sort of price would i be expecting to get the passenger and drivers door delocked ? im midlands based and been quoted £150 per door (£300) by one company.
dont wanna go the insurance claim route cus im already paying over £1000 a year with a clean 3 year licence in a low crime area (ironic i know) but no no claims.
wanna really keep costs low. ive got a guy coming to install a low grade clifford for me tomorrow £150 inc vat and fitting but should delock or relock ?
if i delock are there any recommendations for cheap (but good bodyshops ?) and shoulkd i leave the boot with the lock in case of power failure ? ( have been advised this by 1 former installer)
