more car work ???

No bloody wonder your garden needs doing

How did you do that ?

Si,

Out of interest how did you go about doing that ?

bumper

Just used a little saw to cut out the plastic.

d'ya think...

D'ya think it could be done without cutting out the plastic backing? This guy at airspeed performance showed me his honda where he'd done a similar kinda thing but just layed the mesh on top of the original plakky bits, then tied it on with some fine welding wire or something. It looked OK on his car, but do u think it'd work on a bravo?

bumper

I'm sure it is possible, but i think you'd struggle.

You'd have to cut a piece of mesh to the exact shape of the bumper, which is really difficult.

Plus the problem i had with mine was finding a bit of mesh large enough for an HGT bumper. The longest mesh i could find was 1 metre long which was about 10cm too short. I tried all of the car accessory shops and all of my local garden centres. In the end i had to buy 2 bits and lay them over each other, thats why the centre of the bumper looks a slightly brighter silver colour.
Actually i did find 1 place offering mesh to any size but it costs £150!!!

So yes i'm sure you could lay it over the top if you had the patience to cut it properly and join 2 pieces of mesh together.

cutting the plastic

Is the plastic insert in the bumper easy to cut through then ? It looks like it it is fairly tough plastic and could be a right b*****d to cut out.
Where did you fix the edges of the mesh to and how did you fix it ?
It's something I'm looking at doing to mine so a bit of advance information would be useful !

bumper

No the plastics really easy to cut, if you have a sharp blade. After removing the plastic i sanded the bumper down where the plastic had just come out of and gave it a quick paint and lacquer.
Fixed in using cable ties. Drilled holes in bottom of bumper and at top of air intake/the gap you will have just cut out where they are out of sight.
My mesh ain't going anywhere, it's fixed in really tight.

bumper

Forgot to mention that you actually need to take the bumper off!!

nope

no, standard Bravo headlights with some headlight eyebrows.

Mesh

The mesh i brought was 125cm long, its the folia tec stuff, but it was only 25 cm wide, i think it was 25 anyway?

think it was about 20 or 25 squid a sheet
