I must say that the dealer I bought my fiat from extremely helpful, funny and a pleasure to purchase from. I'm happy to return there for any help I need :)

Not to be funny, but how long have you owned your car for?

Fiat and Alfa dealers are fine to deal with in terms of sales and I would say no better or worse than any other marque I've dealt with, it's service time when they really let people down......

Well I haven't had my car serviced there yet but my friend (who talked me into buying from them) hasn'tccomplained about them and he's been going to them for around 4 years with his punto. I have no doubt that some garages aren't the best though.

Have you had a few bad experiences?

Hang around on here for more than 5 seconds and you will see that an unfortunately large number of Fiat dealers are pathetic when it comes to servicing.

I've seen a few people complaining, hopefully my dealer isn't one of the bad ones. I know this is a bit random but do you wax your car and if so could you recommend a good car wax to use

It's worth noting that Thames Fiat in Slough is now also an Alfa dealer...so they are now the 2nd and 3rd worst dealers combined. I bet Chevrolet in the number one spot will offer them a franchise.

Yes and they are not the least bit interested in taking an Alfa Mito ( immaculate low mileage example ) in as a part ex and only offered the same as We Buy Any Car despite me offering to part with loads of money on an Abarth. Salesman I spoke to ( someone called AJ ) was going to do some homework and get back to me the next day. That was nearly 4 weeks ago. Needless to say I've not followed it up and abandoned the Abarth idea concluding that they are massively overpriced for what they are.
New Renaultsport Clio 200 on my wish list now

Off topic quick answer: Auto-glym wax is very good. And try Maguires 'wash and wax' (it's the bright yellow stuff) as this leaves an amazing finish if you dry the car off after washing. Best stuff I've ever used for washing the car. Water even beads up on the windows with this stuff.

May give this a try as needing to replenish my stock. If it does not come up to my expectations I'll be chasing you for my money back!:D

Thanks for the reply, have you ever used demon shine car polish before?

Maquires spray on wax is very good, three times a year maybe. Autogym in the bucket for washing the wheels and the door jambs etc.. Car wash for the rest - a van you see ;)

And as for dealers, I have to say Desira in Norwich are really very helpful these days. They always had the best tech, and now front of house is working very well too. Not too many people and a comfortable intimacy that is lacking in some of the others. As for Mercedes, it may be immaculate, but the coolness about the place is hardly enjoyable.

Fiat is obviously trying very hard because I even had Italy ring me up two days ago to ask how I felt about the way they handled a payment they made to me. Excellent all the way down the line was the honest answer.

So Fiat is trying hard.

Now, however, it seems Marchionne is avoiding the motor show. Fiat has nothing new to offer, but everyone else from Europe's other manufactures is going to Europe's biggest show - and he has other commitments all of a sudden - apparently. He failed to turn up at the Italian GP too. Why??? Big mystery.

The situation has Italian unions, supported by a reactionary government, fighting a rearguard action against the modernisation of working practices, and American unions blocking the Chrysler/Fiat merger with a law suit that looks to drag on for years. All a bit concerning when all impatient Marchionne wants to do is plan for the future and get the company moving forward - now.

I'm a bit concerned.

PS. The very latest rumour has it that the Fiat team may presently be doing a deal re Chrysler, so it looks like they really do have something important going on after all :)

I wanted to comment on this regarding dealers in the South.

I haven't had a good experience with any of the following:

Meridien Milano Alfa Romeo, Portsmouth & Bournemouth - Apalling dealership! Failed to service my car properly, many complaints resulting in me being "barred" from the dealership. A complete shambles and joke of a business.

Thames Fiat, Slough - Sell you a dirty car with outstanding service items - not good! Cowboys!

SGM Fiat, Southampton - Pretty poor but better than both of the above.

So from my point of view I can see why Fiat scores so badly.
