Gidday from New Zealand... new here (the forum not NZ!).

Am looking at Stilo Abarths... any advice gratefully accepted on what to look out for, any common faults or foibles. 3dr or 5dr doesn't bother me...

Have only owned 1 Fiat before... a Bambina that I bought at a party at Uni for $250 and sold it at the same party a couple of hours later for $350!! Never even saw it!! Took the $350 off the second guy, pocketed $100 and gave the Balance to the original owner... not a bad night's work on the whole... it paid for the beer!!!

Our family has owned 2 other Fiats, my mother had a Bambina back in the 70's that she traded up on a 128! I had the "serious wants" for a 124 Sport as my first car, but bought a Honda Civic instead, and have owned Civics ever since... now wanting to "get back to my roots" and own another Fiat... hopefully for more than a few hours!!

Hey!! Not "considering" a Stilo Abarth anymore... I own one!! Checkout my "garage" for photos of the day I picked it up and drove it 887km home (including a 3.5hr ferry trip).

Have owned it now for less than 1 week and am very happy with the purchase... it needs some paint work done, but on the whole is in excellent condition.

Blimey! you work quick, lol. Welcome to the forum and try to hang on to this car for more than an hour even if the idea of a quick buck is tempting.

I was a Honda man myself for many years, I did my apprenticeship with them when they first started up in the UK and worked for them for many years and owned a succession of Honda cars.

Great motors, dead reliable and very solid but something was missing that Fiat seems to address so that is where I am at now.

Cheers. (y)

ps. $6.00 seems very cheap.

$6.00 would be cheap!! Actually I was trying to make it say NZ$6K ($6000) but it cam up with $6.00!! Am trying to change it as we speak. $6K was cheap over here though... most of similar age/mileage are selling for about $8K and usually haven't had the waterpump or cambelt seen to.

Hoping to keep this car for the long haul... hence considering a complete repaint rather than just patching the LR side (where it looks like someone has driven along a hedgerow!). If so I might put a very slight hint of blue pearl too... would look HOT!

And I did keep it for the "long haul"... I ended up doing over 300.000km before I sold it. I how have a Punto HGT Abarth and have just added a '82 X1/9 IN to the collection. I've wanted an X1/9 ever since I first saw one in the flesh in about 1975... I must've been about 10years old...I drove one in 1980 shortly after getting my license and have lasted after one ever since. And now I have one...couldn't be happier!
