Hi everyone, my recently acquired 1982 X19 is a true barn find and was apparently amongst other classic cars in a shed untouched for 19 years and was part of a bundle the guy I purchased it from had brought, he was only after the British Classics to advertised the Fiat about 4.5 hours North of me in NQ Australia.

I was keen as I had a lot of experience with exotic cars as a teenager, I in fact began working part time at 12 years old for a business and my boss/ mentor and lifelong friend (RIP) and his brothers had Fiat 128 coupes, 2 Alfa Spiders, an Alfa Montreal , BMW and Mercedes and several other classics that I would wash and detail weekly as part of my duties and for the younger folk here I earned $8 a day and likely would have done it for free (but I Dare not suggest that then lol)

So having acquired the X/19 and being an independent old barstard I set up a small winch and some floor tie downs on my 6 x 12 box trailer and headed off and loaded her up and it went effortlessly onto the trailer, I then turned around and drove the 4.5 hours home.

Of course when you get them home and they don’t run you of course have to get them safely off the trailer and for me that was to be done uphill as my approach to the covered area was sloping about 15 degrees, so having cleared some bushes so as to get my trailer to within reach of the ramps I then set up a pulley block on the rear tie down point, ran my front trailer mounted winch down under the Fiat , through the block and back to the front of the car, enabling me to single finger push a button and move the car backwards onto the ramp and it rolled exactly into the covered area .

I just thought that maybe others may find this simple old school method useful and have attached a few photos..

And finally, take your time, get your set up right and safe as there is no point damaging the car, house or yourself..

When the X19 was nearly new I used to think a course in gynacology would help when working on the engine, but in fairness by todays standards , probably not that bad. Most were still rear wheel drive back then.
Body looks quite good for the age, climate better than over here.;)
When on my own I used to put an old tyre between the two bumpers to push cars up the slope into garage if non runners.:)

Body has surprisingly little more than surface rust and a few bubbles here and there, all the usual spots are ok..
