My 500R is often hard to start because fuel has evaporated after it's sat for a while--like, weeks--and it takes a lot of starter action to get fuel from tank to engine. Anyone have a favorite technique to help the fuel along? Of course an electric fuel pump is possible, but complicated. Jack up the front end? Pressurize the fuel tank? Any suggestions?

unless your car is pointing at a steep angle and your tank is very low on fuel, the natural leveling of fluid in a pipe would mean that even if left for a long time the fuel should be at the fuel pump as it is below the height of the tank... I leave my car for months and a few turns of the starter sees fuel in the carb
Take the pipe off the fuel pump (tank side) and fuel should come out... if not then take the fuel cap off (vent may be blocked) if no fuel coming out... lower the pipe at the engine end... fuel should literally pour out... as it is now well below the tank level.
No sucess investigate a blocked or restricted tank to engine pipe.

If you have no fuel flow problems I suspect something else...
Put pipe back....
take off pipe to carb and turn engine over... (get someone to help) and see if fuel is pumped out... if not fuel pump problem..
If fuel is pumped out you have another problem...
