Help,

Need to replace the gearbox on my 1.2 16v bravo, can I only use the 1.2 box or are there other compatible boxes?

Found out where the gear box oil leak is from - cracked casing on the box, also on further investigation mechanic found teeth missing from dif and one inch square section of box has broken off and is in the box somewhere - oops!

Why is nothing ever simple with the bravo!

You can use a 1.2 8V Punto box.

They have slightly shorter ratios, which means you'll end up using more fuel on the motorway, but around town, you'll see a nice increase in MPG figure.

Good luck trying to find a 1.2 16V Boz from a Bravo.. they're rare.. Very rare.

Are they different from a Brava's gearbox? If not where abouts are you mate, i may have one.

I live in Cornwall, I think the engines are the same for the brava and bravo, but may need to get confirmation first.

What is the difference between the gear ratios for the punto does any one have any ideas?

Please help, currently home with 16 week old hence why keeping strange hours on the forum, any help gratefully received

Engines are indentical (and gearboxes) for both Brava/Bravo.

Punto box - Unsure of figures, and has one bolt in the box that does not align with the housing on the engine. But still works fine.

I think Fiat want sometihng in the region of £1000 for a new gearbox for a 1.2 16V Bravo/Brava.

If you went to a scrappy, you could get a Punto box for £100 and have it fitted for another £100. Of course, not warranty though.

Unfortunately these 1.2's just have a tendancy to go, a lot !

after doing a bit of research on the gearbox etc. i have found out that the following models also share the same box as the trusty 1.2 16v!!
Fiat idea,
Lancia Musa,
Punto Sporting Convertible 85,
Punto D,
Punto 8v 75,
Stilo 1.2, 1.6, 1.8,

the ggearbox code is C514 although ont he box its stamped as C14 (i am guessing that the 5 purerly stands for the number of forward gears!!! as on checking other makes and models through the same remanufacturers that i know are interchangable 5 and 4 are prominant on those too!) so theoretically any box stamped C14 should fit!!
