After my drive on Sunday, my gear box seems stiffer, and crunches a lot more than it used to. Is this a case for oil? If so is there a place to put oil for the gear box? And what oil do you need?

Cheers

Cam, the car Newbie.

it could possibly be your clutch if you are struggleing to get in to gear!

does the box feel ok when the eingine is off? if itdoes i would be looking at the clitch first

try changing gear without the clutch and see if it feels the same. (to go up through the gears take it out of gear let the revs drop a little then put it in the next gear just as the car is slowing down a little. to go down the gears take it out of gear start puting it into the next gear down and give the throttle a little blip and it will fall in.)

thats if you didnt know how to change gear without the clutch lol ;)

Im Driven to Earn, and I Earn to Drive......

I will give that a try, but there is certainly something up with it :(

Just tried it. Goes into gear fine when engine is off. Can come out and go up and down the gears without too much trouble without the clutch.

So going by what you have said, looks like I need a new clutch :(

either that or a new slave cylinder like pete said but i would say its more chance that it will be the clutch!

what engine is it and how many miles has it done?

Pedal feel would go all funny if it was the slave cyl. Worth a look as its a cheap fix.

My slave cylinder leaked, but the pedal felt solid/same as usual.

Just check for fluid around the cylinder.

Its a 1.4 SX, 1222-- miles on the clock (thats right One hundred and twenty two thousand miles) I think, lol.

now i know its the clutch lol ;) u done bloody good to get 122k out of a clutch if its stil the origonal!
