i have just upgraded from a 1.4 sx to a 1.8hlx really pleased with it however i got in it this morning and it would not go into reverse when i got it going i was on the highway in 5th gear and it wouldnt come out i was sat there for 5 mins has anybody had a similar problem i think it needs a new gearbox if so how much am i looking at

Elaborate a bit more, when you tried reverse would the lever not allow you to put it into reverse or did it grind like mad?

it just wouldnt go in there was no grinding

My money is on Gear Selector fork! Its a rebuild job of the box. However could be clutch related.

Odd.. could be a sticky selector lever. If it was the clutch you'd expect it to grind like mad.

how much does it cost to rebuild the box

5th and reverse are on different selector forks though.

Could just be the input shaft needs a grease or the connecting mechanism is sticky.
