All,

Maybe I'm going blind, but I find it hard to easily see the oil level on the gearbox dipstick

I'm pretty sure you can buy a gearbox oil which is coloured red, which should make viewing much easier.
Only trouble is, I don't know what it's called! :bang:

Anyone know?
Failing that, I'll chuck some oil dye into the dirtbox :)

The silkolene pro s 10W50 I use is red, but it will turn dark eventually. :)

Edit: oops just read your post again, perhaps it is me going blind! :p I was refering to engine oil above and I dont use it in my gearbox! :D

I agree it is quite difficult to see the g/box oil.

Yes, it's hard to see the gearbox oil level. Redline make red coloured gearbox oil, which makes it a bit easier to read.

If you dry the dip stick off, when you pull it out again put it on a bit of tissue and you will see roughly where the oil level is (y)

Adyr's Blue Peter idea is exceedingly fiendish. I like it (y)

Cheers,
