Styling Gear knob question

Hello all,

I came here, from the Stilo section, to ask few questions about the Fiat Bravo gear knob. I want to replace Stilo gear knob, and i really like the looks of the gear knob that Bravo has.
I wanted to ask, does the plastic ring/tube (lift to reverse) can be removed from the actual gear stick?
Also does any one know the diameter of the gear knob hole? Here's a picture for better understanding
