Hi all, still having problems with my 1st, 3rd, and 5th gears, they wont engage at all now.
the local garrage said that it is probabley the gear cables, but there too buisy to work on the car at the moment, She is due her MOT anyway now.
So what I have done is taken her to another garrage for the MOT, And asked them if they can replace the cables at the same time.
They are also quite busy too and havent phoned me back with the cost yet
Does anyone know if this is a expensive job or is it a quick replacement,
If anyone has a idea of the cost could they let me know.
Also can cars fail a MOT if they have a oil leak ?
Simon

hello,

the MoT doesn't cover the mechanical condition of the engine, but if the oil leak impairs the testers view of certain parts (Brake servo etc) then they can refuse to test the car, as can they if the engine oil is low.

As for the gear cables, autodata tells me to advise a charge of £70.44 (excl. Parts) for changing the cables. HTH
