Looking to replace my box this week!
What i need to know is - what gear box will fit on a mk2 1991 1.4 uno turbo

not to botherd about the gearing, i just want to know what box will bolt onto the engine and work without having to do any mods to the linkage, mounts, ect ect...

Thanks for any help with this

Dan

I would agree with the Tipo and Uno 70 'box suggestions as well.

Ratios may vary according to which car they were fitted to, but not a worry.

tipo 16v box? any tipo box? cant imagine it would be a special one just for the tub,

Doubt if the Tipo 16v box will fit, as it's used on the twin cam 2.0 engine. I could be wrong!

Gear ratios might be unique to the turbo box, and possibly has some stronger bearings due to the extra torque. Check the Haynes manual to see if there are any differences. I do know that the later Uno turbos used a 'Tipo based' gearbox from what I remember.

I agree with Chas.

Take some photos of your gearchange linkage where it connects to the gearbox (and memorise what they look like), then check prospective gearboxes. Differences will be obvious straight away. I think that most Tipo gearboxes will fit (1.4 or 1.6).

1.6 Punto Convertible that I saw last week appeared to have a different gearbox, for what it's worth.

Uno 70 Mk1 has a different gearbox - so does Uno Turbo Mk1 before 1988.
