Hi all. Well my Stilo 1.6 Dynamic went into the garage last week. It needed a head gasket job (after only 42000 miles. Hmmmm). I phoned the garage on my return from holiday because I was a little concerned as they told me the car would be ready and parked outside my house. Of course, it wasn't. It turns out that they had apparently repaired the head gasket problem and took the car for a road test. However, they did not tighten the bolts. The result? 2 cracked valve guides, 6 bent valves and 2 stripped cam pulleys. Am I pissed off? Oh yeah.
This should all be repaired tomorrow afternoon. Thing is, what do I pay them for? Should I be paying them for the whole lot? Should I just be paying for the work on the head gasket? Should I just tell them to fek off? I really don't know where I stand with this one. Any help you guys can offer would be gratefully received.

Cheers guys.

God if that happened to me a would definitely NOT be a happy chappy they have done considerable damage to your car and I would be taking on board legal advise just in case they try to pull a fast one or the car has problems when it is returned to you (n)

Well. Job finally completed today. They wanted to charge me £504. They were told to go away in physical sexual jerks. I had my secret weapon with me - the wife. Jesus man, I couldn't get a word in. She'd done her homework and hit them with a load of legal stuff and wouldn't back down. They, however, did back down (eventually).

Total price paid - £250 thank you very much.

I know it makes me a bit of a *****, hiding behind the wife, but seriously - if you're having trouble with a garage, take the missus.

I am a very proud man.

Anyway, thanks for the advice guys. You were very helpful. Being a Stilo owner I'm sure I'll have to call on your wisdom again.

Any chance of (a-hem!) borrowing your missues if I have similar problems? And is that £100 before or after tax? Actually, just worked it out, it doesn't really matter!
