Whats the most miles you have got out of a full tank 1.9sporting!!? fellas n ladiez(y)

603 miles, that was from Oldham to Plymouth and back,at an average speed of 64 mph ( on cruise control ) full tank plus a bit up the pipe, computer read 58.3 mpg, that was with 15000 miles on the clock, the 1st time with 1200 miles read 57.4 mpg,it can be done people, its boring for a 1.9 but I was just seeing what I could get,it won't happen again I promise.

400 miles was from £35 of petrol at about 40 mpg. My car always seems to click the petrol pump out before the tank is actually full. It clicks out and leaves the fuel gauge one notch before the full mark. Really annoying!!!! I want a proper full tank!!!

You can still fill it up even though its clicked can't you? I used to have a habit of filling up my old car until petrol went all over my pants because the fuel indicator/pump was faulty - that's when I know its really full ;)

Are the fuel readers accurate? Mine always seems to dip really quickly? Apoligies for hijacking your thread:eek:

I've had cars in the past that stay "full" for ages, then dip quickly - it's the other way around with my 1.9 Sporting. I don't think I've ever managed to properly fill the tank either.

I averaged 55mpg on a 500-mile round trip - on a proper mix of roads and driving conditions. Keeping moving over 40 and below 70 is the trick.

I suddenly seem to be getting better mpg out of my 1.9 Sporting....I'd been v disappointed with the economy, getting around 38mpg on my average part city, part dual commute. Pretty cr*p I thought for the stated figures.

However, it's now consistently up at 42mpg with nearly 12k on the clock, but AFAIK nothing has changed (ie. no updates, my driving, the fuel I use etc). The weather is warmer, but that's all....could it be that?

Like others on this thread, I've only been getting between 4-500 miles on a tank, and my fuel guage moves far too quickly! :bang:
