well today i have paid out for a full body detail for my pride and joy. i helped the fella wash and rinse the car and left him to it for the day.
if anyone ever doubted its worth spending serious money on this kind of thing, think again. by the time he had finished off taping the car up i had lost all interest tbh. so after different pads and potions and a few coffees later he had finished. what a difference, its perfect in every angle. all the swirls, marks, blemishes all gone, every panel is back to its deepest glossy red shine, well worth every penny. he charges £150 + vat for the full days work, and its better than i expected too. the nice thing was, he went around all the trims / seal with the air hose, cleaned all the glass and dressed all the rubbers / plastics too. now i have paid out for this kind of thing before in norwich, £50 for a full machine polish ...... what a mess i got for my money, on the bright side that was my astra though.
so in summary, i understand for that £ i could have brought my own d.a and all the pastes, i could also have really screwed up my motor with my lack of expertise in machine polishing. so im happy with the results, if anyone around the area wants his details, p.m me as word of mouth is the best advertising. now wheres my snooker ref gloves so i can get in my car lol :)

Thanks for posting this, you're absolutely right! In the hands of a pro, a machine polisher can make you're car look like new far more than most people believe!

Glad you've had a good experience! (y)

Better if you do it yourself, take a lot more pride and appreciate the final product A LOT more. Although the fact that you take enough pride in your Fiat to have it detailed is good enough! :D

A lot of people out there that couldn't care less.

Got any pictures of the before/afters? 50/50 shots? :D

ok took some photos tonight but cant seem to sync my mob to my pc bloody thing. looks like im going to have to e mail them to myself lol.
on a brighter note, gave the car a good wash and dry tonight and the ease of cleaning since my detail day was far easier. must be the magic of the wax he finished with :worship:. anyhow pics to follow (hopefully).

yes, i was a bit worried about screwing up the paint lol. i think all the damage was done by a few visits to the hand car wash specialists from poland imo.

Did he give it an IPA wipedown after he polished it to check he had actually removed swirls and not just filled them with the oils from the polish? And did he clay it before he machined it?!
