Hi, first time on this forum and I have very little mechanical knowledge, but my son has a Seicento Sporting, it will not start, but if I disconnect the cable from the single point fuel injector, it starts but obviously not run well. I have found a possible replacement from a breakers yard.

What I need to know is can I simply replace this part and do they come out easily?

Many thanks

Yes it comes out easily, remove the collar, its held in by a torx headed screw, and gently lever the injector out, its held in with its O rings.

However, I fail to see how it will start with the injector disconnected and not start with it connected. This would suggest to me that there is too much fuel getting in rather then too little and possibly one of the temp sensors is playing up.

If you cab get the complete TB from another SPi cento then that will give you an air temp sensor, the water temp sensor is in the inlet manifold.

Thirdly, eh, welcome.

Cheers

Thanks D,

I have been told by a friend that it is getting too much fuel as you mentioned, but what is a complet TB and is that easy to get in and out.

The TB (Throttle Body) is the bit that looks like a carburetor (and does much the same only better) immediately underneath the air filter box (and joined to it). It'll have an injector in the middle of it. A few nuts and bolts, unplug the odd connector et voila!

But this is a strange one, something I've only heard of once before, and then on an engine with multiple injectors. The engine will have been running so rich that the oil will be contaminated with petrol, so do an oil and filter change while you're at it.

Hopefully someone will put some pictures of a throttle body up.

Many thanks to both Rallycinq and Fingers99 for all your help!
