Hi

I posted a thread about this prior to it completely stopping working, to which I had no responses, maybe someone will help this time? So the gauage just sits flashing amber and at zero, it was working intermittently but now doesn't work at all...all fuses seem to be correct.....:bang:

Jeez mate,
you've got your hands full at the moment!

I believe the sender unit is incorporated in the pump, this can be accessed from a small round panel under the rear seats. You should then be able to test the gauge by grounding the sender wire (should indicate full).
This NEEDS to be confirmed as safe as I've used this on other cars but not on a Multi,.

Lol!!! Yes, my other half seems to think that all these things are just 'cosmetic' grrrrrrrrr!!!.....Bloomin handles knackered, seat belts as strong as the UK economy, computer on the blink, tailgate cable goosed, *yawns*.....it goes on!!......anyway..

Ok, I get you as far as locating the thing (Which seat will it be under, and is it internal of the car or on the chasis?) But I don't know how to ground (or what is) a sender wire *eeeek*........sorry to be so useless!!!

Sender wire is the wire that goes to the fuel gauge on the instrument panel. When the fuel tank is full there is no resistance so the fuel gauge indicates full, when the tank is empty there is lots of resistance so the fuel gauge barely moves.

The unit itself sits on top of the fuel tank, secured by a large nut which needs a judicious tap with a hammer and small cold chisel or centre-punch (bit like an immersion heater securing nut)

Search the forum for fuel sender unit and there's a post about how to access the fuel sender unit.
