Mechanic has had a look everywhere trying to find where the fuel filter is located. Looked in the engine and followed all fuel lines but still no hope. Even removed the plastic cover under the drivers side rear wheel.

Can anyone help?

Thanks, I asked the mechanic this and he doesn't think it could be there. Not that he's ever seen it in the tank. He came across a black plastic box just under the drivers side front wing. It had two blue fuel lines running in it.

Must be a Mk 2. The Mk 2 retained the cover that used to hide the filter. The Mk 1 filter sits at the back of the plastic cover so you must have the Mk 2.

There never was a MK1 with a 1.2 engine. The filter is in the fuel tank and thus non replaceable.

Are you sure you took the car to a mechanic?

hell, if he dont know about fuel systems on cars, nor could look in his magic book, then would you trust this guy with your car?

I wouldn't.

early models =no filter as use carbon evap unit in inner wing. laters yes i believe in line with pump in tank, or some have been found under sill at rear o/s wheel
