Ok, now I do know we're all experiencing some interesting winter weather at the moment, in fact I've been having a ball in the silver beastie with the new Vredestein Quartrac 3 tyres on the front proving they were worth every penny.
However, those with longer memories will recall that the car got a smidgen wet... if not try: http://www.fiat-scotland.com/fiat/upload/showthread.php?t=11189
Anyway..... the latest developemnt would seem to come from that flooding. For the first time on any of my cars ever I have experienced a solidly frozen gearshift  Now that's a first for me.
Fortunately, generous spraying of de-icer on the selectors and linkage eases it off in a few minutes but it seems that the water from that flooding has got well into the system. Doubtless this will mean yet another new bit, in the interim I'm going to try spraying the lot with some WD40 (or similar) in an effort to ease the chances of the problem rearing its ugly head.
But I have to say that I'm damn surprised..... it's just not something I'd ever expected to happen!
Fiats - never a dull moment ;)

Hmm, haven't had that happen to mine, though the coldest it's gotten in my area's around -4 degree C. 1st was being a little uncooperative when it's this cold mind, but once heated up it's fine.

Anyway, hope it gets sorted for you and doesn't need a new part.

I think the fact that the siver beasty had to double as a boat the other week didnt help the situation and water as got into the gearshift cables [between inner and outer ] if you get a chance it might be worth getting them off[the cables that is] and spraying some water inhibitor down there between the inner and outer get hold of some plus gas H ..I find that better in many ways than wd40..(y)
