Front Wiper Fuse Blowing (Brava 1.8 ELX)

Anyone got any ideas why the 20amp fuse protecting the wiper circuit blows if I leave the wipers on continuously for a minute or 2?

It's happened about half a dozen times and I'm now having to operate the wipers intermittently - a real pain in the tonsils when it's chucking it down.

The wiper motor is lacking grease, or the shafts on which the wiper arms screw on are rusted.
