My front door handle passenger side has pulled out completely and the magnet lock cap come off. It is still attached electronically but I cannot get it back in. Anyone experienced this and how I can get it back in?!

Model
Fiat500x
Year
2016
Mileage
80000
The door handle on the 500x can be removed and replaced without having to touch the inside of the door. From what I remember from replacing mine on my 2016 Cross Plus you need to:
1. Open the driver's door - you'll see a smallish rubber bung aligned with the exterior door handle. Pry that out (and keep it safe).
2. If you look inside that hole in the door you'll see a splined (I think) bolt. Sorry I can't remember the size. With the right size tool loosen that a few turns (but don't undo it completely or you will have to strip the door). Again if I remember right there's something crazy like a counterclockwise thread. Anyway when that's loose:
3. You can then remove the small part of the exterior handle i.e. the cover and the key part
4. Once that smaller part is removed the longer front part pulls towards the back of the car then hinges out of the door and the front end comes out too. Careful with this last step as there's a wire attached to the front part of the handle which needs to stay connected (do not lose that wire inside the door).

If like me you're trying to replace the broken cover to the key part the replacement cover clips over the key part before you start to put it back together. Then reassemble opposite to above starting with the longer part of the handle.

Only takes a few minutes once you've done it once. Hope my memory is OK!

Thank you. In my case the handle (the long chrome part) has completely come out and detached from the wire which is nowhere to be seen! Even getting the handle back in is difficult and of course without the wire attached is useless!
