i knew before i clicked the link what it would be
its a generic kit,not made to fit your cinq

Nope, a T3/T4 hybrid would be way too big for something like a Cinq.

You'de be lucky to gain any pressure rise as the flow requirements for that compressor are likely to be huge. Having said that, its a huge turbine too, so that'd be quite good at bending physics

So is this thing any good? or what is the best thing to go for for a turbo conversion on a 1.1?

true but i love the cinq i cant sell it lol
i want the power but in my small little car

what bhp could be added roughly by modifying without the turbo?

You can get a 1.1 to be quicker but in NA form it will never be as good as just buying a faster car.

A GSR, bigger TB, Mckritch chip (or similar) 4-2-1 manifold, decent exhaust, hotter cam, better suspension, brake upgrade, wider tyres. Will make it faster but if you buy all that new it will cost a fortune

Seriously unless you have deep pockets and like spending a lot of money and never knowing if the car will get you to your destination, forget all thoughts of a turbo and just buy a small car with a big diesel engine as that will be far faster in the real world

Mind you, it'll never be as much fun/pain/have as much character, etc.

The 1.4 16v is a good, sensible, cheaper option. Might even be faster than a Cinq tub from point to point. If doubling the bhp isn't enough, they can be tuned to put out 140bhp reliably. If you want more than that it'll be down to popping in the engine, tub and gearbox out of a Mito 155 or 500 Abarth SS.

well as you can get decent cars like Cleo 172 these days for around a couple of grand no decent Cento conversions actually make any sense what so ever as they will always be slower and handle much, much worse

I don't know about, much, much, worse. Nothing ever gave Blue a hard time....... apart from A 7 series, and that was threatening to occupy all the available road and part of the adjoining hedge.

It's entirely true that there are cheaper, faster, more economical alternatives (although I'm not sure I'd look in the French direction), but they're not Cinqs.

but they're not Cinqs.

You say that as though there is something wrong with that.

I know for sure that if I'd had discovered the delights of blasting through the Yorkshire Dales on a sunny day in an MX-5 earlier, there is no way on earth I would ever have got the Turbo Cinq and I probably would not have sold my NA one either.

Nah, that's just fact. The OP wants a fast Cinq, not a fast car per se.

You'd have much more fun blasting through the Yorkshire Dales on a Ducati. And it would be more economical. And faster. And cheaper.

But open top cars never really cut it for me (although I had a lust once for a Duetto ).

One of the funniest things I've seen in historic racing was the Miata's inspiration (and in some respects a better car, the Elan) getting completely shafted in the wet by Fulvias, overweight, underpowered rally cars, with better handling.

ive alredy got the stainless steel exhaust system and the induction kit ive contacted trickker a while ago but had no reply about the throttle boady any other places i could get one from Parts off a punto maybe?

No I wouldn't I gave up bikes years ago it hurts less when you fall off a car;)

I had an original Elan (well a +2 135s) great car when it worked, you think they look poor in the wet should try driving one in the snow they are about as much use a Stephen Hawkin at an arse kicking contest

I thought you had done some searching? 32mm tb available from a punto 60, 36mm one available on some Pug/Citroen 1.4 38mm one can be made up from a p75 or here for 40mm

Of course I enjoyed the project, and the stunning company, but for anyone else attempting that job without a tame engineering company on hand, it would be difficult.

Actually, especially the stunning company.

Cheers

I know burple is beautiful ;) lol yeah I agree tho, there were some very technical hurdles that woulnd have resulted in me throwing a hammer at it...
