are there any other forums out there that are like this one.

this forum needs to be rebuilt. so there is a index on the first page.

also post can only be made with the user loged in.

when you register, you must use a non Hotmail/msn email address.

any other idears

Should only be able to register 1 user name per IP otherwise ud get ppl posting under different names leading potentially causing **** under different identites

I disagree slightly.

I would never have become a user of this forum if I would have had to register. I found this forum when searching the net for help with my dodgy clutch. I found this forum. If I would have had to have registered I would have closed and looked elsewhere. Because I could post a simple request I did. I have been here ever since and am now running the BOO site and help Nige in running the club itself.

If it would have required a login on my 1st visit - I wouldnt be here today

A forum i use has a good format is:

Anonymous users can use the forum as on here, but there is also an option to login.
When logged in you can create posts that only other logged in users car see, you can also create normal posts for everyone to see.

It works very well.

Looks like someone needs to set up a forum forum to disscuss how to improve forums and compare different forums that are out there, then maybe this kind of drivel will be kept off this forum!

This route has been travelled down so many times on this forum and each time, and has been put to the vote each time. The general concensus each time from the majority of people has been keep it as it is as its simple and easy to use and you dont have to click three thousand times to get to one thread. As mentioned before, if you do want a forum set out like that there always is the Fiat Forum.

I also think the login-only idea is a bad one, and the no hotmail is also bad (my primary account is on hotmail so i can read it wherever). You'll start losing out on people using this forum who may want to drop in and just ask one question. If you're worried about the hecklers, that's what Wimmy, Rob, Nige (who are doing a splendid job) and myself are here to help sort out.

here here. I fully support this forum in its current format and always will, especially when compared with other such as Alfaowner and Fiat Forum - which lets face it are a pain in the ass to use.
In the last 24 hours the site has been back on track as people have follwed the simple rules and there has been no problem - excellent!
