I hope somebody out there might have some ideas about this, I have a 1996 1.6SX (since new) which has now done 81,000 miles and within the last month I have notice that there is what can only be described as a kind of vibration coming through the floor pan,it is not evident through the steering wheel or even through the dash but only through the floorpan (particularly the footrest next to the clutch pedal)There are no other clonks or clicks that might suggest a suspension joint or drive shaft, but it does have a slight leak from the near side inner driveshaft boot. I ve checked the gearbox oil level and whilst it was down a bit it still only took about 150mls so it was no means empty.
The only other thing I could think of was perhaps an Engine or particularly a gearbox mounting, I know there is ine on the back of the gearbox that bolts to the floorpan. Its only really noticeable at motorway speeds,I ve also tried driving at speed in 4th and its still the same, which would possibly rule out the 5th gear ratio.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated

Take the car along to an exhaust specialist place and getb the mounting rubbers checked out. I have even had an exhaust fitted to a car and it started to bang and vibrate against the floor pan, but only at certain speeds? I f I had the sort of symptoms you are describing that would be my first thought.
