Technical  Flashing mileage

@Mike1alike I understand that you are a “flashing km” expert 😊
I just replaced my original radio with an Android Car Play by Hizpo from AliExpress.
Understood that I need a ELM 327 V2.1 High Speed modified and a Yellow cable, is this correct?
I guess I also need a software and instructions, isn’t it?
Could you please help me to solve the problem?
Thanks!

😁 Lol, I'm not a "flashing km" expert. Mine never did a flashing, fortunately.
But basically you've listed correctly what you need.
You need a ELM327 tool, cabled not bluetooth. Or, if you prefer the bluetooth version you can go that way and find an app that works with it. I have the ELM327 v. 1.4 and when I got mine I noticed that with the bluetooth version you can only do less than with the cable one. I don't know if that's still the case nowadays.
I don't know exactly which color cable you need, you'll have to work that out according to your car specs, you'll find the info somewhere. But the color code was a thing for the old port adaptors, 3-pin, I think. And I think yours has the OBD2, so any OBD2 tool with cable should work.
And yes, you need a software then, to work with the tool.
I put the link for the MES 4.7 here, in post #27. That is the PC/laptop software version and it works with the cabled ELM327. Works great!

Thanks for your confirmation.

Yesterday I was trying to get help from AI and what I got is that my trouble is doming from the CanBox installed together with the CarPlay and that an alignment isn’t needed.

The reason why, is that my car is a Fiat500 from year 2013…

AI solution is disconnecting the CanBox or replacing it with a better one.

At the same time the Hizpo after sale support confirms that I only need to find the best option from the CarPlay system.

Today by choosing Fiat500 nothing works, but if I select Fiat Doblo 15/17 the wheel commands and car alerts are working fine.

What’s your opinion?

Thanks!

You should do a 'Scan' first if it has that function and connect to the modules it shows.
If not and you can connect with Doblo 15/17 go with that and see if you can fix it.
What do you mean “do a scan”?
By using a third party hardware, correct?
Thanks

I mean that software in your photos. Some of them have 'Scan' function and if you do that they list all the modules they can read on your car.
This is my MES reading my Punto connected with ELM327 v. 1.4.
I am trying with the different options, let’s see how it goes.
Otherwise will source what is needed for the scan.
Unlikely I didn’t find anyone in Italy from the map.

Yes very true

Search on utube. I came across an excellent detailed walk through on utube a few yrs ago. Unfortunately at the time I didn’t have a Microsoft PC to run the mutltiscan s/w. At the time I had problems with the blue & me module which had water ingress. A common problem with fiat 500’s as the module is located in the rear quarter. Rather than replace the module I had it removed. The mileage has flashed ever since! My garage failed to perform a proxy alignment to stop this! The video explained why inexperienced users would fail to rectify using the multi scan sw.
Without fully understanding your specific problem the on board central computer needs to know what you have done with the radio.
In my case the flashing mileage was indicating a fault with the blue and me module. Although now removed, the OBC needs to know this. This is what the proxy alignment does. (Im not an expert), but hope this helps.
On the home screen click on "forums" on the black task bar scroll down to MES members then click into there and the map will come up -click on individual members for details!.

New user here - trying to link my issue of this thread (since it is likely to be a very similar problem) rather than creating a new one.

My daughter has just bought a 2012 500c which she loves - but it seems a little unusual since it has the central vents and round cornered radio head unit which would seem to only have become standard in 2013 models. Also- in case it is relevant - it seems to be the first of these units whcih did not have DAB built in.

On purchase the radio unit was faulty - no bluetooth - and the dealer agreed to fix this (Thank God, the car was one that had got past the 'Blue & Me' module behind passanger side rear trim). To their credit, the dealer spent a couple of weeks sourcing an original FIAT replacement head unit and since it was fitted a few days ago the radio and bluetooth is working fine.

BUT...

We now have the flashing mileage coming up. The dealer says this is because the new head unit does have the built in DAB functionality but has no DAB aerial - so it is constantly reporting a fault to the main ECU and triggering the flashing mileage. According to my daughter, everything else is working just fine. All the steering wheel buttons etc functionaing as they should.

So - for all you FIAT diagnoistic experts - is the dealer right and we should learn to live with the flashing mileage? Or is he talking ballix (excuse the Irish technical term there) and I just need to do a proxi alignment and/or clear the fault in the main ECU?

I'm happy to get an ELM327 and cable and do that myself if that's all it will take. And if so, is anyone able to recommed an ELM327 on eBay or Aliexpress that is more likely to work reliably?)

Equally - if it'll be a major pain in the ass and involve sourcing a Fiat DAB aerial, pulling out the dash, pulling our the head cloth and God knows what else to permanently fix the problem . we'll probably just suck it up for 6 months and then get one of the aftermarket CarPlay touchscreen head units from Aliexpress.

Any insight would be appreciated.

Dear All, I fixed the issue by doing a deep selection on the settings.

I have a Fiat 500 year 2013 and with my Hizpo Car Play by selecting FIAT DOBLO 15/17 and car type 3.

Now everything works fine 😊

Thanks everybody for the support!

Model selection,mine was simplesoft,select car,fiat,and then model.
Then go to- car info-car settings-instrument control panel-click on car type and select 1,then 2 then 3.
Turn off system, take keys out of car, lock and come back in 30 mins and should be fine.
Worked a treat for me,just make sure u select the right year and model, dont know why but the Abarth comes under Doble.
