I seem to have developed 2 faults recently on the Sei....

Firstly if I accelerate uphill before changing gear the handbrake light flickers on the dash and then goes out once I've changed gear. I've checked the brake fluid level and all my brake lines are only 12 months old. I don't think the switch is sticking as it doesn't do it on every hill, only if I'm accelerating fairly rapidly (but not excessively).

Secondly 2 mornings in the last week the engine management light has been flashing in sequences of 5. This happens repeatedly until the car is thoroughly warmed up. When the light is flashing the car becomes jerky and you cannot accelerate.

Any ideas as I'm stuck. I want to try and avoid a hefty garage bill as its been an expensive month already!:(

For the first, check the level again, check wiring to the float on the fluid reservoir, check wiring to the handbrake switch. (May simply be a cable earthing out.)

The other may be the MAP sensor. Check well the pipe to the MAP and the rubber connections. If OK, join club cento and check the nominal values.
