Hi everyone i am new here. Help!!
I have recently bought a 16v Coupe turbo and have a wee problem with the paint flaking off in one of the rear light cups. Three of them are ok and this one isn't (Don't know why?)
Does anyone know if this a cheap fix by just replacing the cup with a new one ( Do they come as a seperate part?) or is it going to be a few more pennies than that (ie bodyshop and lots of chinrubbing and teethdrying)

Just be nice to know

Thanks Fatbloke76

Hi,

Sorry but I don't have solution to your problem..:bang:

Thing is I have a similar thing going on with my coop. Mine hasn't gone as far as flaking paint yet but I certainly have something going on in there, and I reckon my paint might start to flake soon as there is a strange bubbling texture in the cup. Also some discolouration in there too.

I think the problem comes from water sitting in the cup and not being allowed to drain away. After time this must have an effect on the paint.

Might be interesting to see if anyone else has a similar problem, and more importantly an easy way to remove cup and repair.

I believe that this happens because the light recess is made of aluminium, so it corrodes and bubbles. I think it can be sanded down and repainted. As previously said, it's usually due to the fact that the water doesn't drain away properly (especially if parked facing downhill). Althouth the light recess is technically a seperate part, it can't be removed and replaced, so removing the corrossion and repainting is the best option.

Its a common problem on the coops so dont worry about it too much. The unit can be replaced but its well sealed in and will be a pain in the ass for a body shop to remove, what is dead easy for the body shop to do is remove the tail light, sand away the corrosion and spray the light reccess.

it might be easier buying the hole unit have a look on ebay there is about 3 or 4 regular fiat coupe breakers advertising might cost you 30 to 40 quid delivered but it would save hasstle?:slayer:
